This wheel throwing class is for students with little to no experience. I will teach you the basics of how to center a ball of clay on the wheel and shape your clay into finished functional pieces. You will leave the course with at least 4 finished pieces. Output is highly dependent on open studio attendance.
Curriculum:
Week 1: Introduction to the basics of wheel throwing. (mugs)
Week 2: Introduction to trimming, optional: add a handle. More throwing practice.
Week 3: Intro to the basics of glazing
WEEK 4: Introduction to bowls
WEEK 5: Introduction to shaping cylinders into vase shapes.
WEEK 6: Introduction to plates: Beginner level set making
WEEK 7: Glazing. If time: great pottery throw down challenge.
This class includes 2 hours of open studio on Sundays mornings. Open studio is not a class, you will have 2 hours of access to the studio each week to practice learned skills independently.
If a student decides to withdraw after the semester begins, there are no refunds unless if there is a replacement student available.
One makeup class allotted per session. No make ups after the class ends. Full refunds are offered if cancellation happens up to 2 days before a class starts. No refunds less than 48 hours before the class begins. A substitute attendee may be named by the booking party at any time
